WHAT TYPES OF ATHLETES COMPETE IN THE TRINITY COMBINE?

The Trinity Combine has a wide range of competitors with varied athletic backgrounds. You don’t have to be a former professional athlete to compete well.  Many of our competitors are weekend warriors and some use the event as the impetus to get back in shape.  This is the forum to see how you can measure up to your own goals.  The Trinity Combine is a fun test of athleticism. If you hit the gym a few times a week, practice CrossFit, played high school or college sports, or just love to compete, the Trinity Combine is for you.

WHAT ITEMS SHOULD A PARTICIPANT BRING WITH THEM ON EVENT DAY?

Not much other than your ‘A’ game. All Trinity Combine participants receive a quality uniform.  Participants are required to wear the uniform at all times. Competitors will have access to a variety of hydration and nutrition options on site.  Many participants bring multiple types of footwear to accommodate The Trinity Combine's diverse events.  To maintain the flow between events, we strongly discourage competitors from sharing shoes.

HOW DOES THE TEAM COMPETITION WORK?

Competitors in the team competition compete in the exact same events as those featured in the individual event. Here’s a breakdown:  Team Size – Teams consist of 2-4 competitors. Both men and women can compete on the same team.   Events – Each competitor may choose the events they want to compete in. You can compete in all 10 or only 1 (teammates who compete in all 10 events are also eligible for the individual competition).  Scoring – The top score from each event is taken from each team. If all four team members compete in an event the bottom three scores are dropped.

MAY I BRING MY FAMILY, FRIENDS, DONORS, AND COLLEAGUES TO THE TRINITY COMBINE?

ARE DONATIONS TAX DEDUCTIBLE?

Yes, all 100% of donations go to Trinity Community Ministries which is a 501c3.  Donors will automatically receive a tax acknowledgement email from Trinity Community Ministries at the time of their donation.

IS THERE A FUNDRAISING MINIMUM TO COMPETE IN THE TRINITY COMBINE?

Yes, the purpose of creating your personalized Pro Day with top notch gear, nutrition, music and incredible camaraderie is to raise funds for the Trinity Community Ministries.  We actually anticipate that most competitors will raise in excess of $1,000 due the compelling story of Trinity Community Ministries and men like Willis (see Willis' story here) as well as the unique, especially challenging nature of the event.  The average competitor raised more than $6,500 from 30+ donors at a sister event held in NYC.  Make an effort and the fundraising is easy.

I HAVE NEVER FUNDRAISED BEFORE, HOW DO I DO IT?

If you can cut and paste and send a group email, then you can effectively fundraise.  The great news is, the Trinity Combine will make fundraising easy for you by providing an email template which summarizes the event and the compelling cause and allows to you describe your purpose for competing and specific goal(s).  Your email will direct potential donors to your personal fundraising page (created during sign up) and they simply follow the on screen prompts.  Immediately after they donate, donors will receive a tax acknowledgement email indicating the gift amount and the beneficiary, Trinity Community Ministries.

WILL THE TRINITY COMBINE KEEP TRACK OF MY DONORS AND DONATIONS?

Yes, The Trinity Combine accounts for each donor and the corresponding donation amount.  You will be able to view all of this information in your profile.

ARE THERE AWARDS GIVEN AT THE COMPETITION?

Yes. Awards are given in the following categories:

FUNDRAISING

  • Top Individual

ATHLETIC

Overall Winners

  • Top Individual Male (1st place - 3rd place)
  • Top Individual Female (1st place - 3rd place)
  • Over 40 Top Individual (1st - 3rd place)
  • Overall Top Team (1st place - 3rd place)
  • Over 40 Top Team (1st place - 3rd place)

HOW DOES THE POINT SYSTEM WORK?

Trinity Combine has contracted with WODCAST (CrossFit Games) to streamline the scoring system from last year.  Male competitors and female competitors are weighted against their peers and the top performers per event drive the top scores.  There will also be points awarded to individuals and teams based on their success in fundraising.

An individual's and team's overall fundraising rank will be scored in the same manner as the 10 athletic events (deadline is Friday, May 5th).  To illustrate:
The winner of each event (including fundraising) receives 1,000 points.  Second place through last is awarded incrementally less points than the team/individual ranked immediately ahead of them (about 25 point increments in team, about 5 points in individual).  Example: #1 fundraising team-1,000 pts, #2-975, #3-950, #4-925, #5-500...

So the maximum score now attainable at the Trinity Combine is 11,000 (1,000 x 11).  Past results suggest that no team or individual will achieve a perfect score, but competitors that consistently rank in the top quartile have the best shot at taking the overall prize.
The conclusion: successful Training AND Fundraising are the Trinity Combine 'keys' to success!
